Lesson 3: Checking Your Mouth

3.7

Step 2: Check for warning signs:

5. Check tooth sensitivity (like a painful sting inside your tooth). During your daily life, pay attention to any tooth that has increased sensitivity to hot, cold, sweet, or acidic foods and drinks. Do you know that you can also check and observe sensitivities at home? You can take an ice cube from the fridge and use the ice cube to touch your teeth one by one for less than 3 seconds. If there are any teeth that are extremely sensitive compared to other teeth you may have receding gums and root exposure sensitivity. Whereas any sensitivity to hot may be the beginning of a cavity (cavities sometimes are called decay). If you think you might have any decay, be sure to contact your dentist. Or, if there are any teeth that are more sensitive compared to other teeth, be sure to contact your dentist.
